The firm, started by lighting design pioneer Michael Tait, began in 1978, when Tait was working for the supergroup Yes. In the early 70s, Michael Tait
developed one of the first selferecting ground support lighting towers, his signature creation became known as Tait Towers.
In February of 2006, Tait Towers announced its newly formed executive team with James J. "Winky"Fairorth and Adam D. Davis as equal partners with company founder Michael Tait.
Fairorth, having joined Tait Towers in 1984, serves as the companys President. "Taits competitive advantage stems from the philosophy You are only as good as your last show.

Now VicePresident, Davis started working at the company in 1997 as a project manager. He is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in theatrical design.
