A quintessential 70s celebration with perennial touring bands Chicago,
and America in concert on Saturday, June 16, 2007 opens the music series,
setting the tone for an event calendar of world class artists and
performances.
Distinguished touring bands already confirmed for the
summer include Bob Dylan, Widespread Panic, Brad Paisley, Willie Nelson
and Friends, Trace Adkins, Earth Wind & Fire, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Arlo
Guthrie and Richie Havens. In the classical/jazz spotlight An
exceptional evening with the New York Philharmonic, Bramwell Tovey
conducting and Tony Award winner Kevin Kline narrating, An Evening of
Jazz, The Boston Pops.
Situated at the site of the original 1969 Woodstock Festival in Bethel,
New York, The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts Concert Calendar would not
be complete without the offering of two fullbodied pop festivals, The
Original New York Doo Wopp Reunion and Hippiefest.
Bethel Woods Center for the Arts is approximately 90 minutes from New York
City, in Sullivan County. The Amphitheater and Museum are set within
nearly 1,700 pristine farmland acres. The Bethel Woods Artistic Directors
believe in the importance of presenting a diverse selection of live
musical performances, including classical, pop, rock and country. In
keeping with the relaxed, family spirit of picturesque Sullivan County, a
Bethel Woods live show is the perfect embellishment to a weekend
excursion. By providing artists with the opportunity to perform on one of
music's most legendary grounds, Bethel Woods is committed to building its
status as a mustsee cultural destination. Season Memberships are
available to the concert enthusiast and arts patron.
Seeing Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and Ray Price under a full moon at the bucolic Bethel Woods was one of my top concert
experiences of 2007. Ive seen them individually numerous times, but the combination of their camaraderie and the venues
special vibe made for an extraordinary performance and a truly magical night.
