Vermillion Media. An Entertainment PR Company

The Vermillion Media staff is a close-knit group of independent music industry executives entirely aware of the challenges a recording artist, or creative entity, faces in today's music business.

[en.ter.tain.ment (n) The various ways of amusing people, especially by performing for them. Something that is produced or performed for an audience]

Each Vermillion executive comes to the team with a different skill set, a different way of working and a different work history. We know for certain that diversity is an asset. What we have in common (and the reason we still really like each other after all these years) is a love for music and the determination to help talented artists continue to grow their career. We believe it is entirely possible to have a sustainable and gratifying career in the music business - and that every musical genre has worth.

Ellyn Solis (Founder Vermillion Media)

Ellyn began her public relations career at Rogers & Cowan and from there went on to work at the Atlantic Records Group, Sony Music/Epic Records, Sony 550 Music and a brief stint in the "dotcom" world at the Mindstorm Agency.  In August of 2003, she took the bold step of starting her own company, Vermillion Meda, a boutique entertainment public relations company.

Ellyn has a vast array of experience culled over 18 years in the entertainment/music business and has worked with a diverse roster of artists. From Pearl Jam to Rage Against the Machine to Ben Folds Five to mega-star Celine Dion to songwriter/socialite Denise Rich.

In addition, she has experience in the internet economy, having spent a year at a tech PR agency in the height of the "dotcom" frenzy.  Her diverse background has given her the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of journalists including publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Rolling Stone, The New York Times, SPIN, Billboard, USA Today and The Los Angeles Times, as well as television shows such as The Academy Awards, The Grammy Awards, Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonite Show with Jay Leno, Entertainment Tonite, Access Hollywood and CNN, among others.  It is the strength of her relationships with key media that has given the clients that she has worked with the sure footed success that has kept them in the public's eye for years.

Ellyn spent a decade at Sony Music, first at Epic Records as National Media Director and then to on to Sony 550 Music where she was instrumental in creating the publicity department and developing successful pr campaigns for artists such as Celine Dion.

With years of experience as an independent publicist, Ellyn has also worked on campaigns for Denise Rich, the family of the late Christopher (Notorious B.I.G) Wallace, Diana Krall and Tommy Lee among others.

Ellyn also has experience in the pr practice of crisis PR, having been at the forefront of several high profile campaigns, most notably, Tommy Lee as well as the recent public battle between the family of Christopher (Notorious B.I.G.) Wallace and Chuck Phillips of the Los Angeles Times. Ellyn handled the Wallace family statements and reactions to the LA Times piece.

Ellyn’s passion for promoting artists from all genres of music makes her an invaluable resource for successfully publicizing musicians, entertainers, events and artists.

PR Lady

After working PR for Major Labels (Atlantic Records, Epic Records, 550 Music) for the better part of twenty years and in that time working with hugely successful recording artists from every genre (Pearl Jam, Rage Against The Machine, Ben Folds Five, Firehouse, Celine Dion, Ozzy Osbourne among others) New York native Ellyn Solis was ready for the next adventure.

“My goal is to take the hard won knowledge from my years in the music publicity business and bring that knowledge to the independent musician. To bring it in a practical, personal, easy to understand way via the internet. I wanted a sister-service to Vermillion Media, the same thing only different.

The idea for PR LADY was really born out of a simple occurrence: answering the phone!

So many artists would call to find out about hiring our company Vermillion Media to represent them. The calls were coming from eager independent artists attracted by the big names on our client list. Our monthly retainers are quite high and many of the artists that called had not reached the level needed to hire a full time PR group. Vermillion Media was not in a position to help them since from an artist development point of view the national press would not want to pay attention just yet. But all of these artists wanted to understand what the next step should be. I was experiencing a groundswell of serious and enthusiastic independent artists who deserved the same chance at publicity that the big artists get. So we would spend a lot of time on the phone trying to help them understand how PR works, what was realistically available to them and how to go about the process. I realized that we really should be offering this style of advice and attention on a regular basis, a PR consultation, a question and answer session. Not all artists can afford our retainers, but most bands and artists can afford the lower price point of our internet and phone consultancy.

With PR Lady musicians will receive quick access to sound advice for a modest financial investment. We are dedicated to the independent musician, we want to demystify the way the publicity game is played. We want to help indie artists advance their own careers using the valuable tools we can provide.

There are so many places on the internet that offer flat advice on how to DIY it, but with PR Lady, we take that advice and tailor it to fit each individual artist.”

Indie artists can get started right away at PR Lady
